About Mark Budd

Mark Budd is an accomplished Australian artist based in Manly, Sydney. Born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), he was raised in a creative environment and inspired from an early age by his mother’s paintings and their meticulous attention to detail.

Mark’s work blends imaginative surrealism with the natural beauty of coastal landscapes, capturing energy and movement through vibrant colour, bold composition, and playful storytelling. Living by Sydney’s beaches, the ocean and surrounding coastal environment strongly influence his artistic practice.

Mark began painting professionally at 17, quickly developing a distinctive style and earning recognition for his exceptional talent. Over decades, he has refined his craft across original artworks, fine art prints, murals, and commissioned pieces ranging from iconic Sydney scenes to imaginative, narrative-driven compositions. His work appeals to art collectors, interior spaces, private clients, and businesses across Australia and internationally.

Over the years, Mark’s practice has been recognised through council commissions and public events, including providing artworks as framed prizes for the Northern Beaches Eco Awards, creating signage for council initiatives, and performing live painting at community and environmental events such as Ocean Care Day. He has also exhibited formally at the Downing Centre in Sydney, as well as in other venues throughout his long career.
